Uses
Nitozinc® Primer is recommended for priming exposed steel reinforcement prior to the application of Fosroc concrete repair mortars. It actively resists corrosion within the repair zone and prevents the development of incipient anodes in immediately adjacent steel. It is fully compatible with all Renderoc mortars and fluid micro-concretes, making it ideal for structural repairs in buildings, bridges, industrial plants, and other reinforced concrete structures.

Surface Preparation Any corroded steel must be fully exposed. All loose scale, rust, and corrosion deposits should be removed to achieve a bright metal condition, with special attention to the back of exposed bars. Grit-blasting is recommended. Where chlorides are present, high-pressure washing with clean water should follow grit-blasting to remove corrosion products from pits and imperfections.
Mixing Both components must be thoroughly mixed using a slow-speed heavy-duty drill fitted with a paddle until a homogenous grey mixture is obtained. Ensure no unmixed material remains on the sides or bottom of the container.
Application Apply Nitozinc® Primer as soon as possible after surface preparation, but always within 3 hours, onto a dry steel surface. Apply one full, unbroken coat using a suitable brush, ensuring complete coverage of all steel surfaces, including pits and imperfections. Allow the first coat to dry fully (generally 30–60 minutes) before applying a second coat if required or proceeding with the repair mortar. The primed surface should not be left exposed longer than necessary.
Low Temperature Working Do not apply when the substrate or ambient temperature is below 10°C.
Cleaning Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with Nitoflor Sol.
Limitations Nitozinc® Primer should not be applied when the temperature is below 10°C. In aggressive industrial or marine environments, the overcoating interval should be kept to the practical minimum.
